May 6, 1930 - Jan 3, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Joyce Gilstrap Jennings was born May 6, 1930, to Ben and Marie Gilstrap, of St. Louis, Oklahoma. She left this life peacefully, in the arms of her family, January 3, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Al Jennings Jr.; her wonderful brother, Benny Joe Gilstrap; and her daughter, Juliane Jennings Crutchfield. She is survived by her son, Joe Allen Jennings, and his life partner, Cres Contreras; her sister-in-law, Jo Anne Gilstrap; her sister, Reba Lawson; grandchildren, Cristy Martin, Craig Crutchfield, and Ryan Crutchfield-Dan, Izayah Conteras, and Autumn Contreras; her great-grandchildren, BJ Burns, Brittney Burns, and Blake Burns; one great-great-grandchild, Liam Burns; nieces, Sherri Swindle, Kathy Strapp, Karla Royer, and Melissa Beal Fraiser; and nephews, Ken Lawson and Greg Lawson. Joyce was one of the first graduates in Oklahoma City of the Certified Professional Secretary program and utilized her many talents in the Oil Business, which she loved. She was a true " Oklahoma Oil Woman" in every respect of the word. She was a member and an executive office holder in the Oklahoma City Oil Club for women, "Desk and Derrick." She and her late husband, Al Jr., were avid square-dancers, disco dancers, bridge players, awesome tennis players, loved going to Lake Texoma to their lake house to garden, fish, boat, and ski, and most of all, spend time with their grandchildren. Joyce was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, The Red Hat Society Club that was hosted by Meadowlake Estates Nursing Home, where she spent the last seven years of her life. A special thanks to all the staff of Meadowlake for all the love and care she received. Joyce's "Prize Possessions" in this life were the grandchildren; nothing was more special, nothing more spoiled! Arrangements are being handled by Guardian West Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 6, 2013, 12-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church January 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood, OK.
