June 30, 1932 - Aug 31, 2013 EDMOND Ernest "Louis" Boyce, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed from this life on August 31, 2013. Louis was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Tressie and Marion Boyce on June 30, 1932. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1950. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he obtained his degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1955. He met Betty Wood while in college, and they were married October 30, 1955. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and was assigned as an artillery officer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After the Army, they moved to Winfield, Kansas, to continue his career in the oil and gas business. His oil and gas career took him to many cities in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas and occasionally out of the United States. After working for the same company for 19 years, Louis made a job change which brought him to Edmond, Oklahoma, in 1974. He continued to be a geological engineer until last year. Louis and Betty attended the Edmond Church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he was an elder for many years. His wisdom, guidance, generosity, integrity and compassion will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family. Louis was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Carlile Fields and Roy Boyce. He is survived by his wife, Betty Boyce; three children: Eric Boyce and wife Hilda, of League City, Texas, whose children are Matt Boyce, Sean Fazende and Jessica Fazende; Jenna Smith and husband Brent, of Edmond, Oklahoma, whose children are Jared Smith, Nick Smith and Erin Morey; and Kathy Warn and husband Darren, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, whose children are Kris Warn, Acea Warn and Megan Warn. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephew. A celebration of life will be held at the Edmond Church of Christ on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 2 p.m., with interment to follow. The family will greet friends at 6-8 p.m. Monday at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, Oklahoma.
