Oct. 22, 1944 - Sept. 1, 2013Richard Allen Duffy died on September 1, 2013 surrounded by family and loved ones. He was 68 years old. Richard was born in Lexington, Oklahoma in 1944. After he graduated from high school, he developed a lasting love of horse racing while working at horse racing facilities throughout the nation. He later went to college at the University of Oklahoma, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. After serving as a Captain in the Marine Corps during Vietnam, he married his wife of 37 years, Karol, and opened an accounting firm at the top of Red Hill in Purcell, Oklahoma. From its humble beginnings, Richard grew his accounting practice into a thriving business with clients throughout the world, including Oklahoma, Texas, Canada and Germany. To his clients, he was a friend and trusted adviser; to his employees, a role model and mentor. After more than 30 years of practice, he retired from accounting and opened the Wine Gallery, a boutique liquor store in Moore, Oklahoma. He was a compassionate man who loved meeting new people and talking to them about their interests. He spent the final years of his life chatting with customers, enjoying fine wines, playing with his grandson, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Karol; sons, Zac and Adam Duffy; grandson, Jackson Richard Duffy; and his son from a previous marriage, Richard Stokes.
