Obituary Condolences

Oct 12, 1929 - Sept 26, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Robert "Bob" Hooper, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, passed on from this life to heaven on September 26, 2013. He was born on October 12, 1929, in Lexington, Oklahoma. He was one of eight children born to Willie and Ethel Hooper. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, 1948-1952, serving during the Korean War. He graduated from Central State College in Edmond with an industrial engineering degree. He also attended the University of Oklahoma. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base after 29 years. He married Earlene Mainord on November 14, 1959, in OKC, and they shared 54 happy years together. He was a very honorable and loving man who showed great pride in his family and always put others before himself. He attended St. James the Greater Catholic Church for 52 years. He lived his life devoted to the Catholic faith, serving in many capacities throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Earlene Hooper; his children, Robby Hooper and wife Janie, Tony Hooper and wife Cindy, and Karen Mahan and husband Clint; grandchildren, Randi Owen and husband Mike, Payton Hooper, Samantha Mahan, Tyler Mahan, and Chasity Tallent and husband Mike; and great-grandchildren, Conner Hooper, Colson Owen, Tanner Tallent, and Kaytlin Tallent. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; and one grandson, Chad Welch. Family will receive friends during visitation on Sunday, 3-8 p.m. at the Resthaven Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held Monday evening, September 30, 2013, at 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Resthaven Cemetery, 500 S.W. 104th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73139.
