Obituary Condolences

Sept 1, 1939 - Oct 10, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Joe was born Sept. 1, 1939, in Pecos, Texas, to L.E. and Alma Shawver and passed from this life on Oct. 10, 2013. Joe was raised in Seymour Texas, graduating from Seymour H.S. in 1957 and graduated from North Texas University. Joe joined the U.S. Air Force in 1962 and retired as a major in 1984. He began his second career at The Boeing Co. that same year, where he was a Logistics Manager. Besides traveling in his RV, Joe enjoyed acquiring and/or restoring classic cars, ordering "stuff" from catalogs and having an occasional cigar. Following his retirement from Boeing in 1995, he and his wife, Mary Lou, traveled extensively in their RV. Their travels took them from Nova Scotia to Alaska, to Key West, to the southwest USA, and all points between, visiting 49 states. Joe is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Dearmore Shawver; daughter, JaDonn; son, Jason & Laurie; brother, Joel Shawver & wife Angie; sisters, Nancy Diaz & husband Garry and Betsy Latham & husband Del; grandchildren, Dalton & Payton Law, Ashton & Averi Shawver; one great-grandson; stepdaughters, Lynda Baker, Nancy & Skip Zabel, and Lori Cochran; nine step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Patsy; and special nieces, Roberta and Jodi and their families. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, George. Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Southern Hills Church of God, 1029 W. I-240 Service Rd., OKC 73139, under the direction of John Ireland Funeral Home. Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 16 in Seymour, Texas, under direction of Archer Funeral Home.
