Obituary Condolences

July 23, 1919 - October 28, 2013 MUSTANG Arie Cecil Breshears, 94, was born to Andrew N. and Cora Ellen (Cornelius) Breshears in Coalgate, Oklahoma, July 23, 1919. He went to be with his Lord October 28, 2013. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Mustang and was baptized in a pond south of Mustang when he was 15 years old. Arie enlisted in the Army in 1942 and proudly served his country, participating in the landing on Anzio Beach Head. As a half-track driver, he also did two other wet landings during World War II. He was the last survivor of Company F Combat Engineers and was active in their reunions until recently. He marched with Company F from the heel to the toe of Italy. He returned to the States in October of 1945 and began dating Roberta Merrill. They were married in February of 1946 and had three children. His favorite way to dress was overalls and boots but he wore "waist pants" to church. He loved to hunt and fish with his sons and was a proud supporter of the American Legion, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Oklahoma Cattleman's Association. He is survived by his son Ronnie and wife Pat, son Donnie and wife Darlene and daughter Janie Russell, all of Mustang. He has seven grandchildren: Melanie, Nickie, Maranda, Wendy, Dusty, Jodi and Andy. Also twelve great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, a large extended family and friends. Surviving sisters are LaVada Batterman of Hereford, TX., Jewel Batterman of Mustang and Euda Shaum of Palmdale, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta of 59 years, two sisters, one brother and three half brothers. The family would like to thank Willowood Assisted Living for all their help and care during his stay there and much appreciation to Canadian Valley Hospital, the doctors, nurses and staff there for making his last days as easy as possible. Donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or any veteran association you wish. Services will be held at 10am Thursday, October 31, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Mustang, OK with interment following at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Wheatland, OK under the direction of McNeil's Funeral Service, Mustang, OK.
