Obituary Condolences

Sept 11, 1930 - March 26, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Bill James "Billie" Malcolm, born September 11, 1930, to Floyd James Malcom and Stella Mae (Rich) Malcom, went to be with our Lord and fellow carpenter on March 26, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Malcom; his mother, Stella Malcom; his two sisters, Yuanita Malcom and Helen Malcom; and great-grandson, Gabriel Prewitt. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Garrett) Malcom, of Oklahoma City; daughter, Linda (Malcom) Spires, of Oklahoma City; son, Byron Malcom, of Edmond; daughter-in-law, Kim Malcom; six grandsons, two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He grew up learning to be a hard worker and carpenter at a young age from his father, a carpenter and builder in Cushing, Oklahoma. During the Korean War, he enlisted in the Navy and served on a ship, where during his service on the ship, they were called to perform a rescue mission far at sea and went down in history as performing the longest tow. After his Navel service had ended, he returned to Cushing, where he resumed his work with his father, building houses, businesses, custom cabinets and custom trim work. He met the love of his life, Loretta Garrett, in 1954, and they married on December 10, 1954, in Cushing, where they lived until moving to Oklahoma City in 1960. He eventually went into a partnership with Roy "Sonny" Kuykendall, having a very successful general contracting business. He was a very godly man, who loved his Lord deeply and, most recently, attended Capitol Hill Assembly of God on the south side of Oklahoma City as much as possible while caring for the love of his life, Loretta. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on March 31, 2014, at Capitol Hill Assembly of God, 2400 SW 74th. His burial will be in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7801 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City.
