NANCY PARKER(1930 - 2017)

March 25, 1930 - December 3, 2017 MIDWEST CITY Nancy Vivian (Garrett) Parker went to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017. She was 87 years old. She will be missed here by her devoted husband of 68 years, Richard Eugene Parker; her daughter, Phyllis (Parker) Dayer and her family: son-in-law, Chuck Dayer, granddaughter, Jessica Dayer, and grandson, Andy Dayer; her son, Rick Parker and his family: daughter-in-law, Tami Parker, granddaughter, Cara Parker, grandson, Beau Parker & his wife Deanna, and her great-granddaughter, Autumn Parker; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. While we are heartbroken, we are sure that today she is walking and talking with her mother; father; stepfather; brother and sister; her grandson, Andy Dayer; and her many family members and friends that have been waiting on her in Heaven. Nancy was born in Muskogee, OK and grew up in Drumright, OK. She married Richard Parker in 1949, and together, they moved to Midwest City in 1950. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a data keypunch operator and librarian for 17 years. In 1953, Nancy and her husband, Richard, began a legacy of faithful service to the Lord at Country Estates Baptist Church that has lasted 64 years. She was a Sunday School teacher for both children and adults for many years, sang in the church choir for over 50 years, worked at the church Welcome Center every Sunday, and was a constant member of the committees and service groups that have allowed Country Estates Baptist Church to be the vibrant and thriving community of believers that it is today. Nancy loved to take road trips with her husband, to go watch her children and grandchildren do just about anything, to eat a good meal (especially if it was a good deal!), and to tell people about her love for Jesus. Anyone who came in her front door heard the Good News and got an open invitation to Sunday service - even if they were just there to fix the washing machine. In fact, if she were here, reading over my shoulder, she would insist (and you know she almost always got her way!) that I tell you that Country Estates is just the place for you; that she loved Jesus with all of her heart and that she sought his leadership daily; that, if you will just believe, Jesus is the son of God and that he died on a cross to relieve us of our sins - you can join her in Heaven. She would be the first one there to greet you - she loved working at the Welcome Center. The Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Nancy Vivian Parker will be held at Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City on Thursday, Dec. the 7th at 11 a.m. Nancy was passionate about growing and improving her church home. To honor that devotion, we are asking that you make a donation in her name to the Country Estates Baptist Church Building Fund. The fund was established to rebuild the Fellowship Hall - one of her favorite places. Donations and floral tributes may be sent to Country Estates Baptist Church, 1000 S. Midwest Blvd., Midwest City, OK 73110.
