December 17, 1928 - December 2, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY William Paul "Bill" Kellogg Veazey died suddenly Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2017. Veazey was CEO of Veazey Drug Company from 1954 to 1963, when the company sold. Veazey then bought an Abbey Rents franchise to open in Oklahoma City in 1964. A few years later, he dropped the franchise; the store was renamed Bill Veazey's Best Rents. The business was split in 1988; the medical side became Bill Veazey's Rehab and Home Health Care (now Bill Veazey's Medical), the party side named Bill Veazey's Party Store. Veazey was born Dec. 17, 1928, to William Paul Kellogg and Violet Mary Cross. His parents divorced when he was three; Cross later married Stephen Franklin Veazey, who became the man Bill called "Dad." Veazey served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He married Margurite Jane Daves on Feb. 24, 1952, in Oklahoma City. They had a fulfilling and busy life for 64 years until her death in 2016. At his wife's urging, he sang in church choirs for over 50 years, first at First Presbyterian Church, then Westminster Presbyterian Church. A man of faith, Bill participated in the church's mens' club, was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and a disciple. He had a very kind heart. A charter life member of the then Cowboy Hall of Fame, he served as a docent at the National Cowboy Museum and History Center upon his retirement from the family business. He also served on the boards of Red Earth and the Salvation Army and was currently serving on the board of the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic.
