ALVIN GRIGGS Obituary
October 24, 1948 - August 1, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY Alvin Lee Griggs was born on October 24, 1948 to English and Mayme Jordan Griggs of Robbinsville, North Carolina. Their family moved to Oklahoma, where he spent his life, when he was 8 years old. Al was a proud father and grandfather. He is predeceased by his youngest son, Joshua, and survived by his daughter and son, Janey and Danial and his three grandchildren: Lucas, son of Janey, and Lauren and Ethan, children of Danial. He is also survived by his older brother, Harold, and his daughters, Delisa, Sara, Priscilla and Penny; his younger sister Donna (Re), and Caleb and Nathan, the sons of his predeceased baby sister, Joyce. As a young man, Al was highly motivated by the birth of his children. Al pursued work in the construction industry and became an electrician for GM and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1971. Al was involved in the construction of the GM Plant and then went to work for GM as an electrician until his retirement in 1995. Al continued living in Oklahoma City in retirement. After his diagnoses with ALS, he moved to Colorado to spend time with and be near his children and grandchildren. Al lost his life to ALS on August 1, 2018. Al was a good friend and had a wide variety of friendships that he maintained over the years. Friends from childhood, work life and ones he made in his retirement years appreciated his sharp mind, quick wit, ornery grin and tender heart. We will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held for family and friends Saturday evening at the home of his sister from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. at 4136 N.W. 21st Street, OKC, OK 73107.
