(Rye) Tunnell May 24, 1926 - July 7, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY/LAS VEGAS, NVGladys Marcelle (Rye) Tunnell, 92, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left this earthly dwelling, to be with her Heavenly Father, July 7, 2018, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gladys was born on May 24th, 1926, to Henry James Rye and Gladys Lenore Strain of Lufkin, Texas. She grew up with siblings Joyce Elaine, Charles Darwin, Phillip Lowell, and half-brothers Lacey Lee and James Earl. Gladys moved to Dallas, Texas where she met William Preston Tunnell. They were wed on April 21st, 1946. They were married for 61 years, always side by side. After raising two sons, William Roger and Robert Earl, Gladys worked at a tax preparation company. Preston and Gladys were active members of Hampton Place Church of the Nazarene, then Trinity Church of the Nazarene, and Desoto Church of the Nazarene. After retirement, Preston and Gladys spent their time with their grandchildren and hobbies. Gladys liked to paint and crochet. Eventually, Preston and Gladys moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They joined the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, making many new friends. After the passing of Preston in 2007, Gladys decided to move to Las Vegas in 2015, to be near Bill and Brenda Tunnell, and her granddaughter, Fara Karr and husband Tim Karr. Gladys was preceded in death by William Preston Tunnell (husband), Joyce Elaine Rye Bryan, and Phillip Lowell Rye. She is survived by Charles Rye (brother), Bill and Brenda Tunnell of Las Vegas, NV, Bob and Debbie Tunnell of Oklahoma City, Tim and Fara Karr of Las Vegas, NV, Greg and Tiffany Tuohy of Coppell, TX, Jordan and Natalie Reidel of Alexandria, VA, Valerie Tunnell of Oklahoma City, and one great-granddaughter, and two great-grand-sons. Viewing will be Sunday, July 15th, 2018, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, located at 3925 N Asbury, Bethany, Oklahoma. Services will be at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service on Monday July 16th, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Bethany Cemetery following services.
