1926 - 2019
"Jake" KnolJuly 7, 1926 - January 9, 2019 OKLAHOMA CITY Jacob Alexander "Jake" Knol was born in a farmhouse his father built northeast of Britton, OK on July 7, 1926, to Wiebe and Opal Knol. Jake graduated from Britton High School in 1944 and shortly thereafter, joined the U.S. Army where he was part of the Military Police. After six months of training, he was deployed to Japan for a year at the end of WWII. Upon returning home, Jake joined the Britton Fire Department which was later annexed and became Oklahoma City Fire Station Number 22. While attending a school basketball game where his older sister was a teacher and coach, he met an enthusiastic young lady named Donna Jeanne Cassady, who was cheering on her little sister. Jake and Donna were married May 23, 1952, at Millwood Baptist Church and began their 66-1/2 year marriage until Donna's passing Nov. 19, 2017. Before getting married, Jake left the fire department, not wanting to be away from his new wife every other night. He bought into the Britton Cities Service Station that he owned and operated 29 years. Jake is survived by sons, Mark and Brad, and their wives, Marsha and Rita, whom Jake and Donna referred to as their "daughters-in-love"; plus four grandkids, Ryan Knol, Christy Capucille and Tony, Steven Knol and Brandy, Amanda Gragg and Zac; and nine great-grandchildren, who called him "Big Jake." Viewing will be held at the Britton Baptist Church on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, starting at 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Services starting at 10 a.m.
