MUSTANG
Laverne Maxine (Krivanek) Stejskal, age 85, died May 9, 2019 at Mustang, Oklahoma.
Laverne was born September 25, 1933 at St. Antho-ny's Hospital to Louis Sr. and Milly (Svoboda) Krivanek of Mustang, OK. Laverne graduated from Mustang High School and attended Draughons Business College. She taught accordion lessons at the Oklahoma Conservatory of Music and each Saturday played the accordion on KBYE-890 on the radio. She was very active in her children's lives, in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts serving as scout leader, chairman, home room mother. Hobbies included flower gardening, embroidery, cross stitch, playing the accordion at many functions, polka and western dancing, reading, traveling and playing pinochle. She loved being around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the holidays where she prepared dinners for all the family. Laverne, a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Western Fraternal Life Association #67 where she held many offices and was also an 83 year Lifetime member. The Yukon Cemetery Association and secretary for 30 years. Lifetime member of Oklahoma Czechs Inc. and was secretary for 5 years. She baked kolaches for the Czech Festival and was very proud of her Czechoslovakian heritage. She and her husband, Paul, danced the Beseda, the Czech National dance for many years. She was employed in the insurance industry. She and Paul were Grand Marshall's in the 2013 Czech Parade in Yukon, OK. Laverne was a member of the Mustang Historical Society. After the death of her mother, she and Paul moved back to the family farm at Mustang. Laverne was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents Louis Sr. and Milly Krivanek, a sister Nadine Gayle Krivanek, and a granddaughter Cynthia Diane McKay. Laverne is survived by her daughter Gayle Diane (Dave) Christine, 2 sons Kenneth Joseph Genzer, Jr. and Michael Louis Genzer, step-son Chad (Kristen) Stejskal, 12 grandchildren Laurie, James, Jennifer (Bobby), Melanie (Brandon), Jeannine, Christopher (Lori), Amanda (Thomas), Denise, Nicole, Kyden and Kaybree, 32 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. 1 brother Louis Jr. (Jodie) Krivanek and two nephews, cousins and lots of friends. Rosary Service at 7:30pm Thursday, May 16, 2019, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am Friday, May 17, 2019, both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial at Yukon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made at: Holy Spirit Building Fund, P.O. Box 246, Mustang, OK 73064. Viewing at McNeil's Funeral Home in Mustang.
