Jan. 23, 1934 - Sep. 30, 2018 EDMOND Lucille "Lucy" M. (Willis) McAnelly passed away on September 30, 2018, at the age of 84 in Edmond, OK from complications of multiple myeloma.Lucy was born January 23, 1934, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Marvin and Zora Willis. The family moved to Pryor, OK where she grew up on a farm. She graduated from Pryor High School when she was 17 years of age and moved to Muskogee, OK to attend beauty college.Lucy worked as a cosmetologist until 1957, supporting her husband as he completed his college degree. She married Earl McAnelly on May 4, 1954, in Tulsa, OK. She was a homemaker raising three children and returned to work at Streets Department Store where she worked as a store manager until Streets closed.Following her husband's retirement in 1990, Lucy and her husband, Earl, moved to Edmond, OK.Lucy was a talented seamstress and quilter. She was active in various quilt groups. There was no greater joy in her life than her grandchildren.Lucy is survived by her children: Linda (Stephen) Overfield of Norman, OK, Susan (John) Hawkins of Edmond, OK, and Michael (Jin) McAnelly of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Ryne Overfield of Stillwater, OK, Brittany McAnelly of Oklahoma City, Sean Hawkins of Guthrie, OK, Alyssa (Tyler) of Edmond, OK, Xinyi of Oklahoma City, and Riley McAnelly of Oklahoma City; brothers: Billy (Viva) Willis of Pryor, OK and Dale (Shelley) Willis of Pryor, OK.She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Earl, and brother, Ray Willis.The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Parker and Dr. Heather Wheeler who gave her hope and showed great compassion during her illness and her friends at Connect United Methodist Church.Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 3rd, at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be held 10:00 AM, October 4th, at Connect United Methodist Church of Edmond.
