1935 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Sept. 21, 1935 - Nov. 2, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY Marilynn Davis Brown passed away on Nov. 2, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was 82. She was born in Oklahoma City, to James and Myrtle Davis along with her identical twin sister, Carolynn. She lived her entire life in OKC and graduated Classen HS in 1954. She attended OSU and was a Delta Zeta. On June 1, 1957, she married the love of her life, Travis W. Brown. They remained married until his death June 26, 1957. Marilynn is survived by her sister, Ruth & husband Ken Hill; four loving children, Debbie & Steve Tarpley, Trav & Kara Brown, Tom Brown, and Darla Brown & Ed Gutierrez-Falla. She has 11 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. She devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother. She was an 82-year member of St. Luke's UMC and a longtime treasurer for the Builder's class, accumulated many hours as a Mercy Auxiliary Volunteer, and loved participating with her Classen reunion group. She was predeceased by her husband, Travis; her parents; brothers, Jack and Vincent Matlock; grandson, Matt Tarpley; and her twin sister, Carolynn. A Viewing will be held on Monday at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK, noon - 8 p.m. Services will be Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 222 N.W. 15th St., OKC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the , 2123 Classen Blvd., OKC 73106.
