1927 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
May 22, 1927 - Nov. 3, 2018 EDMOND Mary McLanahan, 91, of Edmond, OK, went home to be with Jesus in the early morning hours of Nov. 3, 2018. Mary was born on May 22, 1927, to Bertha Mary Lewis Turner and William Autry Turner in Russellville, AR. Her family later moved to Tulsa, OK, where she graduated from Central High School in 1945, and then worked for American Airlines. On Sept. 3, 1950, she married Paul James McLanahan, and they moved to Oklahoma City. She worked for TG&Y Stores Company in accounting until becoming a mother. She was an excellent seamstress and had her own drapery business. She also loved to cook and be with her family, especially the grandbabies. Mary has been reunited in heaven with her husband of 54 years, Paul James McLanahan; parents, Bertha Mary Lewis Turner & William Autry Turner; stepmother, Effie Turner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles & LaDonna Turner, Bob & Audrey Turner, and Roy McWhirterp; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda & Don White; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Francis & Dorothy McLanahan; son-in-law, Bryan Nelson; and nephew, Phil Turner. Mary is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Carol Turner, of Hughes, AR; children, Karen (Lyndy) Serpan, and Steve (Charlotte) McLanahan; grandchildren, Jami (Baltazar) Prado, Steve (Amy) McLanahan, Jr., Michael (Sunnye) McLanahan, of Owasso, OK; and Andy (Keirsten) Nelson; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Mason, Rylee, Ethan, Chloe, Carter, Tatum, Ellisyn, Isabella, and Everett; nieces and nephews, Julie Townsend, Mike Turner, Rick White, Ken White, Sherry Turner, Kelly Turner, Tim McWhirter, Mark McWhirter, Donna Turner, and Teresa Turner; and other family and friends. A Public Viewing will be held at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK, on Monday from 12 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Spring Creek Assembly of God, Edmond, OK, followed by interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
