MYRTLE EMERY Obituary
May 1, 1932 - July 25, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY Myrtle Marie Emery, 86, of Oklahoma City, went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 25, 2018. She was born to George and Florence Burris on May 1, 1932. She was a Capitol Hill graduate and graduate of Blackwood Business College. Myrtle married Waden Everette Emery Jr. on Jan. 12, 1951. They were married 63 years, until his passing in 2004. Myrtle began her career as an executive secretary to the legislators followed by a career at RJ Edwards. She retired as an Executive Secretary in the oil and gas industry. Myrtle was very involved with her son, Mark, and the Special Olympics. She was also a member of the Quail Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by her three children: son, Dr. Waden Emery and wife Ada Lisa, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter, Janice Gilley and husband Ric, of Yukon, OK; and son, Mark Emery, of Yukon, OK; and sister, Peggy Dailey-Humphreys and husband Elmer, of Moore, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, Jimmy Burris and J.E. Burris. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Myrtle was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Visitation will be on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. A Graveside Service in honor of Myrtle's life will be held on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park with a reception following at Chapel Hill.
