RAY HUMPHREY Obituary
March 12, 1929 - Jan. 3, 2019 DEL CITY Ray Humphrey, of Del City, passed away Jan. 3, 2019. He was 89 years old. Ray was born on March 12, 1929, in Byars, OK, the son of Arvel Lee and Mattie Quinntilla (Allen) Humphrey. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Jo, in 1947 and would spend 67 wonderful years together. They settled down in Del City, where they raised their family. He worked at Tinker AFB as a B-52 Item Manager for 30 years, retiring in 1984. Ray and Dorothy enjoyed spending many hours traveling and supporting their favorite football team, the Oklahoma Sooners, as season ticket holders for 40 years and counting. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and cheering on the grandchildren as they participated in various sports throughout the years. Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Herbert R. Humphrey Jr., of Choctaw; daughters, Jo Elaine Kelch & husband Albert, of Midwest City; and Donna Thompson, of Midwest City; grandchildren, Sheila, Herb III, Heather, Brian, Kym, Dale, Karly, Stephen, Alan, Adam, and Stevie; his 26 great-grandchildren and four great- great- grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents, his four brothers, and his four sisters. Funeral Service for Ray will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Meadowood Baptist Church in Midwest City with interment to follow at the Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 6, 12-8 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 7, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Barnes Friederich funeral home.
