1926 - 2019 Obituary Condolences
December 9, 1926 - January 5, 2019 OKLAHOMA CITY Richard J. Lee was born December 9, 1926, to R.A. and Bertha Lee in Lawton, Oklahoma. After graduating from Tipton High School, he attended Wentworth Military Academy and was accepted into the Army Specialized Training Reserve Unit Program during which he studied at Oklahoma A&M and Yale University. Richard was then called to active duty in the US Army serving in World War II. After receiving an honorable discharge in November 1946, he entered the University of Oklahoma School of Law earning an LLB in 1950. Richard served two years as County Judge for Tillman County, Oklahoma. In 1952, he relocated to Tulsa and was employed by Texaco where he met Frances Birbilis. The two were married a year later. Richard was then employed as a store manager for TG&Y, and transferred to its Oklahoma City headquarters in 1956. He was ultimately appointed Division Vice President of Personnel and Labor Relations in 1975. Richard retired from TG&Y in 1982 and subsequently was employed by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission until November 1993. Richard was a naturally inquisitive and curious individual with a variety of interests including history, politics, current events, business, and sports. Despite a large number of friends and many hobbies, his primary dedication was to his family. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Frances and daughter-in-law Brenda. Richard is survived by his son, Charles, and granddaughters, Brittany, Brooke, and Bethany. A private family service is scheduled.
