1939 - 2019

Robert Lee Jones
July 9, 1939 - February 1, 2019

Bob Jones was born July 9, 1939 in Norfolk, Virginia to Lillian and James Jones. He
passed away Friday, February 01, 2019 at home in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 79. From the age of 18, Bob survived a total of 46 years of federal service that included the Marines, Air Force, Postal Service, Treasury and Homeland Security. Bob wanted to see the world and nothing would make it more exciting than getting shot at while visiting. Some of these exciting stops included Lebanon and Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star. Luckily for his future family his stay in the Philippines was exciting in a different way. He met and married his lovely wife Ester Ofelia Bonifacio and promptly adopted her whole family. While stationed in Hawaii he decided the weather and island beauty wasn't good enough and moved his family to Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. It's here that he settled down and focused on his passions of music, volunteering, amateur radio and ice cream. Bob was known by many names, "Uncle Bob", Radio callsign WB6GMI, dad, husband but nothing compared to grandpa. You will not find a more generous person or a bigger smile than the one Bob possessed. Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Penny and his parents, Lillian and James. He is survived by his wife Ester, daughter Marilyn, sons Ronald and Michael, daughter-in-law Mikelyn, grandkids Christopher, Dausan, Brittany and Alex. Services will be at Bill Eisenhour 5005 SE 29th St. Del City, OK 73115. A viewing will be on Wednesday 4 - 8PM and the service will be on Thursday 7th at 2PM. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
