Oct. 17, 1920 - Nov. 4, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Early Sunday morning, November 4, 2012, Ruth Annie Ellyson passed from this earth in her home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on a farm near Piedmont, Oklahoma on October 17, 1920 to parents Charles Cline and Bertha Swaim Cline. She married her sweetheart Charles Glenn Ellyson on January 16, 1938 and would have celebrated their 75th Anniversary in two months. Ruth was the matriarch of a family that spanned five generations. She loved to cook and her home was a favorite gathering place for family and friends where there was always good food and laughter. With her family raised, she began a career in banking and served as a Vice President of Union Bank, retiring after 21 years. Following retirement she and Charles enjoyed their family, working in their yard, helping in their church, visiting neighbors and sharing one another's company. Their relationship was enduring and when it was needed, Charles devoted himself to her loving care. Both were life long members of Olivet Baptist Church, Oklahoma City. Ruth was a strong encouraging presence in the lives of those around her, especially for her grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her company and sought her wise counsel. She is survived by her husband Charles, son Wayne Ellyson, daughters Wanda Vernon and Woneta Byrd, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a grandson, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 2:00pm at Olivet Baptist Church, 1201 N.W. 10th Street, OKC 73106, followed by burial at Gracelawn Cemetery, Edmond, OK.
