November 7, 1931 - August 22, 2016 YUKON Rev. Stanley D. Meek, 84, of Yukon, OK, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2016. He was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Coyle, OK, the son of William D. and Ruth (Brookman) Meek.After graduating from Putnam City High School in 1949, Stan joined the United States Air Force in 1950. After attending communications tech school, he served in England for 3 years.Stan married Patricia E. Pritchett, August 22, 1951, and she joined him in England for 2 years. Stan and Pat celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary Aug. 22, 2016.After his military service, Stan graduated from Bethany Nazarene College in 1960, and he received his Master of Ministry from Southern Nazarene University in 1995.Stan was a high school English teacher for 7 years. In 1967, he entered the pastoral ministry, pastoring Nazarene churches in Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma from 1967 to 1997. He continued to do interim pastoring for another ten years. Stan and Pat retired in 1997 and moved to the Fox `N Horn Hideaway, a beautiful 20 acres, near Lake Hudson. Stan was an accomplished writer. He was a regular contributor to several Christian periodicals, including the "Herald of Holiness." He authored the discipleship book, "So You Want to Follow Jesus?" and traveled to China twice to teach his book to the underground Bible Schools. The book was translated and printed in Mandarin, with over 25,000 copies, and has also been printed in Nepal.Stan earned awards for church growth in each of the churches he pastored. He instituted the bus ministry in his churches, and also started Bible giveaways for bus attendance. He was a strong believer in personal evangelism and soul winning. Stan was very active in his community and served on various district boards.He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son, Steve Meek and wife Brenda of Yukon, OK; his daughter, Patty Dobbs of El Dorado, KS; his son, Bill Meek and wife Cynthia of Norman, OK; 9 grandchildren, Kelly, Tyson, Lexi, Kami, Shannon, Stefani, Kyle, Karissa and Amanda; and one step-grandson, Carson; 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Joe Meek of Odessa, TX, and Howard Meek and wife Rose of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Max Meek.In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the `Jesus Film Ministry' through Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Crossroads Hospice, and CEIFA (Christian Evangelism in Frontier Areas). The CEIFA donations would go to reprinting Stan's book.Viewing will be Wednesday, 8am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, Bethany. Memorial service will be held at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Chapel in the Round, 6789 N.W. 39th Expressway, Bethany, OK, Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 10:00am.
